Something about history of astrology

Origins of Astrology The first men on earth called homo sapiens were afraid of all the natural phenomena they saw. Storms, lightning, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, eclipses, the sun, the moon, stars, comets and so on. Were phenomena they did not understand. These phenomena, which they did not understand and which they did not know how to master, were assimilated to superhuman forces, to gods. The sky which was inaccessible to them was the abode of the gods. For millennia, men have therefore scrutinized the sky to understand the messages of the gods.

The earliest known documents seem to come from Mesopotamia in about 3,800 BC. Ancient Egyptian planetary positions, which are also very old, have been found to date more or less the same time as the tablets of ancient times, Clay of Mesopotamia. The Sphinx is aligned at sunrise in the constellation of the Lion and may not have been built by the Egyptians but only reshaped by them, it is believed that the Sphinx is 12000 years old. If that's right, astrology is even older than we thought. The pyramid of Khufu is oriented towards certain culmination of Sirius and certain culminations of major stars of Orion. One can also see astrological symbols on the tomb of Ramses II (1304-1234 BC). In Europe, there are traces of astrology in England "The Stonehenge" and in France "Carnac" (2000 BC). In the 3rd century BC in China, astrologers advised the Emperor according to lunar cycles. There are also traces of Astrology in pre-Columbian civilizations, especially among the Aztecs, India, China, etc. History of Astrology Of all the ancient astrologies, that which is most similar to ours is that made by the priests in Mesopotamia. You can find documentation on this country at this time in Georges Roux's book "Mesopotamia, Le Seuil, Paris, 1985". The priests described all the observations of the sky, the fixed stars and the planets visible to the naked eye. They took for wandering stars. All these observations are recorded on clay tablets. On some of these shelves, the motions of the sun and the moon are found with great precision. We have found catalogs of stars that date from more than 2000 years before J.C. In Elba, one finds an inscription dating from 2400 years BC which speaks of the Pleiades At that time it was thought that the earth was the center of everything and that all the stars revolved around the earth. The stars revolved around the earth but remained fixed between it with the exception of 5 stars that seemed to advance or retreat but still in the same trajectory. It was not 5 star but the five planets that can be seen with the naked eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. In Mesopotamia, astrology was practiced by priests who looked at the sky to understand the messages of the gods in order to protect the royal family and the country. These gods do not promise salvation, paradise, what counts here and now, the relationship with destiny, the relationship with the forces of nature. The Mesopotamians never believed that the stars as such exerted an influence on the lives of men. The forces of nature are ruled by the gods and the planets are the gods. For the Mesopotamians the sky was the indicator of the divine will. Sample text retrieved: If Venus appears in the East in the month of Airu, and if the Great and the Twins surround it all four, and if it is dark, then the king of Elam will fall sick and die. Here the eclipse of the sun, the country of the prince will be destroyed, the country will suffer calamity, the king will die, the gods will be angry, pregnant women will lose their child, there will be devastating tornadoes, parents will sell their children for money. If Venus is at sunrise in the region of the Virgin, its meaning is the same as when the Fish approaches the star to the act, the harvests will be abundant and the cattle will remain in the fields. When Mercury retrogrades in the sky or if the star of Mercury is conjoined to the star of Mars, there will be a lot of thief in the country. When the priests saw bad omens in the sky (for example, during an eclipse), they had supernatural and ritual means, they made sacrifices to have the favor of the gods. If there is danger for the King, we will make a sacrifice of substitution. Someone will be treated like a king for some time (maximum 100 days), then he will be sacrificed. Meanwhile the King calls himself "cultivator." After this sacrifice the King resumed his place. In this way,
